Welcome to Air Camp!

Air Camp is a brand new adventure in flight for middle school students, which takes place at the birthplace of aviation – Dayton, Ohio. At Air Camp, students will experience all the exciting aviation and educational resources in the Dayton region, from the place where the Wright Brothers invented flight to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Home base for the week will be on the campus of the University of Dayton.

The purpose of Air Camp is to inspire students to new heights of scholarship, leadership and citizenship, as they experience the wonders of flight and study the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) of aviation. It’s a week packed with fun, adventure and challenge.

Air Camp students will:

  • train and fly as a copilot
  • learn about aerodynamics and design an aircraft
  • fly a remotely piloted aircraft
  • meet the scientists at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
  • work in teams to plan a humanitarian rescue mission

Be the first!

The very first Air Camp will take place July 18-23, 2010, for 40 students, who will be selected by a competitive application process. The deadline to apply is April 15, and only students entering the 7th, 8th or 9th grades in fall 2010 are eligible.
